It's Not Fair

May 7, 2017

Daniel was a great prophet who maintained an excellent spirit for over 70 years of ministry! This mindset allowed him to flourish as God’s change agent in the kingdoms of the Babylonians, the Medes and the Persians. Yet despite his successful run of effectiveness, he still had to grapple with the unfortunate losses that came along with being made a eunuch against his will. He might have asked the timeless question that we will all ask sooner or later in life, why is this happening, it’s not fair?

#YouBelongHere

April, 2017

Have you ever felt like an outsider? It is that suspicion that everyone understands the code and you are left feeling that you do not fit in. No matter who we are the one thing that we long for is a safe place where we can belong. The good news is that Jesus was all about making people who felt like they were outsiders realize that they belonged. The news gets better…when Christ was raised from the dead, he opened the door so that each of us could come to God, not as wannabees but with a huge welcome sign over the door that reads, you belong here. Beginning this April, you have an opportunity to find out that you belong….even if you have some doubts!

NEW ROADS

March, 2017

Some roads are so familiar that we often navigate them with disengaged minds. This is why we go through the green light and then wonder, 'was that green or was it red?' The fact is, old roads keep us mentally dull. Many times, God intentionally leads us down a road that is unfamiliar. For some it is coming to peace with the death of a loved one, for others, it is accepting that we cannot change someone…and the list goes on. This March, join us as we learn to navigate new roads by examining the travel logs from others who have gone before us.

RESET

January & February, 2017

In a world filled with technology all of us have probably experienced the frustration of having a phone or something else that stopped working the way it was designed to function. So often the problem can be traced back to the fact that over time, add-ons create complications, which lead to problems. Not to worry, they created a fix. It is called RESET! This was first a God Idea. He knew that all of us have moments when a reset is needed.

KEEPING IT REAL

November, 2016

Have you noticed that sometimes it is almost impossible to tell what is real from what is fake? So often we settle for the illusion and never know the authentic. The God of the Bible was always challenging people to drop the façade and discover the possibilities of being real. How about you? If you are ready to get real, God is ready to help you discover what it means to please Him.

PASSING THE BATON

October 9, 2016

From the very beginning, God intended for his people to pass their faith, their passion for Jehovah and obedience for God’s laws from one generation to another. Thus, the God of Abraham became the God of Isaac, and the God of Isaac became the God of Jacob. As in a relay, the game is won or lost in the passing of the baton. It is imperative that we wrestle with two questions. 1. What is it that matters most? 2. How can we assure that it is successfully passed from generation to generation?

A WAY OUT

September & October, 2016

Every person that you know has at least one thing in common.  Temptation is the spiritual “Zika” virus that we all fight.  Each person has a different strain but we all struggle.  The good news is that for every temptation the Holy Spirit has designed a way out.  More good news… there is a way out for you.

GROW

July & August, 2016

Your faith matters to God more than everything! It matters so much, that without faith, it is impossible to please Him. God has always been attracted to people who refused to settle for only what they could see ordinary people who chose to live extraordinary lives. The question that must be asked is, how can I make sure that I am growing my faith? The good news is that there are five key ingredients that are guaranteed to grow your faith.

IN NO TIME!

August 7, 2016

Ever wondered why the first miracle that Jesus performed was turning water into wine?  He could have raised someone from the dead.  He could have healed an incurable sickness.  Instead, Christ showed up at a wedding and performed a miracle that reminds us that God can do no time what we can't do in a lifetime!

Quite often it is challenging for men to embrace the life of faith because we are tempted to focus on the acts of God and not on the character or the heart of God. David models the heart of our heavenly father when he invited Mephibosheth, who was the grandson of his enemy Saul to move into the Kings palace and eat from the King’s table. Mephibosheth was crippled as a young child when he was accidentally dropped. David’s kindness is a reminder of the heart of our heavenly father who loves us in spite of our brokenness. God loves men and has a special purpose for every man.

FIGHTING FOR WHAT MATTERS

June 12, 2016

Anyone who attempts to portray the Christian’s life as being passive, purposeless or pliant must ignore a large portion of the bible that depicts the life of faith as a battle, as warfare and an all out struggle. Fact: God calls himself a warrior in Exodus 15:3. In the final book of the Bible-Revelation 19:11, he is the God who wages war. It is no wonder that our faith journey will find us fighting spiritual battles. Just as David confronted his Goliath, so we also must also fight our giants.

THE SEARCH CONTINUES

June 5, 2016

There is something in the human heart that compels us to search. Augustine noted that We are restless until we find our rest in thee. From ancient time explorers such as Christopher Columbus to the fictional characters of Star Trek, the passion to seek out is embedded in the human soul. To understand why we are seekers is to understand that our desire mirrors that of our heavenly father. He has been on an all-out search to find people with the right heart. The search continues.

MONUMENTS OF THE HEART

May 29, 2016

Memorial Day is our reminder to say “Thank you” to those who gave their best and all they had; that we might continue to enjoy the liberties that we have. This idea of remembering or making a memorial is nothing new, it didn’t start with America. Early in scripture, we will see that God was intentional at making sure that we would remember certain things.

SUN STAND STILL

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you dared to believe…dared to ask God to work in ways that were far above and beyond your ability? As hard as it is to believe the command “Sun Stand Still,” was made by someone who was just as ordinary as you.

THE BATTLE FOR THE BLESSING

Mar 13, 2016

The story of faith began in the book of Genesis when Abraham trusted God through obedience. God promised that, beginning with Abraham, there would be a blessing upon his descendants. Jacob’s night described as dark night of the soul serves as powerful metaphor for the battle that each of us will face in order to come to finally arrive at a place where God is able to bless our lives.

ACTS: JOIN THE MOVEMENT

Jan & Feb, 2016

IDEAS are great but ACTS are better! Talk is cheap but ACTS create a movement that changes destiny. 2,000 years ago, the world was literally turned upside down from a movement called the church. 2016 could be the year when we join that same movement and begin to ACT.
